Based on a real story of a transgender woman growing up in a Christian community of Zheijang, "The Rib" (2018) tells a journey of acceptance for both Huanyu and her father, who feels torn between the love for his child and the responsibilities of his faith.

Director Zhang Wei's feature drama is based on the true story of a young trans woman who grew up in a Christian community in Zheijang. It is the first Chinese feature film to pass government censorship, with the director having to cut nearly 40 minutes of footage before getting permission.

The romantic relationship drama "Firebird", which premiered in 2021 and was screened at over 70 film festivals, has now reached cinema distribution in 20 countries around the world and has been purchased by Amazon, Canada's largest telecommunications company Bell and the British Film Institute's BFI Player for their streaming services.

For the Q&A session after the screening on the 19th of December, the filmmaker Peeter Rebane will be present.

"Firebird" is a romantic relationship drama that Peeter Rebane directed (his debut as a director), co-screenwrote and co-produced, and the plot is based on Sergei Fetissov's book of memoirs "The Story of Roman".

We invite everyone to stay up-to-date on the activities of the film club.
