MAARJAMÄE PALACE DAY – CONCERT “PARADISE ON EARTH” WITH LENNA KUURMAA, LIINA VAHTRIK AND PIRET KRUMM

Everybody is invited to enjoy Maarjamäe Palace Day on 20 August. Entry with a museum ticket also allows you to enter the event area multiple times. Maarjamäe History Centre will open at 10.00.

Throughout the day anyone interested can ride around the palace park in a horse drawn carriage! The Maarjamäe restaurant and the Film Museum café will both be open. Children are invited to play in our map-of-Estonia playground in the palace park.

Programme for the day:

11.00 – 15.00 History experts at your service – researchers at the History Museum will assess objects and answer questions.

11.00 Estonian language tours of the exhibition “My Free Country” at Maarjamäe Palace, “Take ONE” at the Film Museum and “Sound of Freedom! The Story of Estonian Popular Music” in the Maarjamäe Stables.

11.30 Russian language tour of the out-door exhibition of Soviet monuments.

12.00 An energy packed circus performance by the Lost D: group of young artists from the Folie circus. Special guest artist – aerialist Grete Gross



13.00 Russian language tours of the exhibition “My Free Country” at Maarjamäe Palace, “Take ONE” at the Film Museum and “Sound of Freedom! The Story of Estonian Popular Music” in the Maarjamäe Stables

13.00 Handicrafts for children in the Children’s Republic at Maarjamäe Palace.

14.00 An energy packed circus performance by the Lost D: group of young artists from the Folie circus. Special guest artist – aerialist Grete Gross.

15.00 Handicrafts for children in the Children’s Republic at Maarjamäe Palace.

16.00 Marta Frelih’s 2016 documentary “Ita Rina, a Film Star Who Declined an Invitation from Hollywood” in the Film Museum cinema. The film is about a film star of Slovenian origin in the first half of the 20th century, who also participated in the first German-Estonian collaborative film “Waves of Passion” (1930). One of the locations for “Waves of Passion” was also Maarjamäe Palace. Film duration 1h 21min. The film has Estonian subtitles.

19.00 Concert “Paradise on Earth” with Lenna Kuurmaa, Piret Krumm and Liina Vahtrik consisting of Estonian pop and rock classics. These three talented artists, all possessing of a good sense of humour, are connected by a love for good Estonian music. The concert will comprise the best songs from the repertoires of Fix, Terminaator, Marju Kuut, Orelipoiss, Tõnis Mägi, Ewert & the Two Dragons and many others – a whole evening of surprises and the joy of recognition.
